The Honorable Edward Clark Parker, 85, of Pawtucket passed away on Saturday, July 20th.Son of the late Edward F. (Tidge) Parker and Catherine Clark Parker, Ed was a proud, lifelong native of Pawtucket. ‘Eddie’, as he was affectionately known, was married to his beloved wife Martha Kenney Parker for 59 years.
He is also survived by his son Edward F. Parker II and his wife Bethany, his daughter Jocelyn Parker and her husband Thomas, his daughter-in-law Jennifer and his adored grandchildren Chelsea, Emily, Teddy, and Ryan, all of whom he was fiercely proud of. He is now reunited with his son John in heaven.
Ed graduated from St. Raphael School in Pawtucket before attending Boston College, of which he was a devoted alum and avid Eagles fan.He served for six years in the Army Reserve andearned his law degree from New England School of Law. Known for his unmatched legal instincts, he was a partner in the firm of Keough, Parker & Gearon and served as Deputy Attorney General of Rhode Island under James O'Neil from 1987 to 1993. Ed was appointed to the bench in 1993 and retired in 2022. In addition to serving as theVice-Chair of the Pawtucket Housing Authority, he was the Executive Director of the state’s Fire Safety Code Board during his long career. Ed often shared with his family how fortunate he felt to always love his job.
Some of his favorite memories were of playing golf with his friends in the A-train at Pawtucket Country Club, of which he was a member for 61 years. He was also a member of the Sons of the Irish Kings. He was a significant, influential force to all of those lucky enough to know him. Ed will be remembered for his intellectual curiosity that had him reading everything cover to cover; his vivid memory and legendary wit; and his detailed stories that were delivered in a charismatic, booming voice never to be forgotten.
Relatives and friends are invited to a mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 27th 11:30am at St Theresa's Church, 354 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket. Visitation will be on Friday, July 26 at Manning-Heffern-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket between the hours of 4pm and 7pm. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Disabled American Veterans Providence RI VA Regional Office 380 Westminster Mall Providence, RI 02903 or to DAV.org.
