Is it better to have SPF in moisturiser?
“Their effectiveness of an SPF moisturiser depends on factors like the SPF level and the amount of product applied,” Emma explains. Essentially, if it's got an SPF level of less than 30, you'll definitely need to apply another kind of sun protection on top — and therefore it might not seem worth it. But if you happen to find a moisturiser you love with an SPF level of 30 or above, you'll have essentially managed to combine two skincare steps into one; hydration, and sun protection.
Can I use SPF moisturiser everyday?
Yes — and we recommend that you do. “Wearing SPF on a daily basis is crucial for maintaining skin health and preventing sun damage," shares Emma. “Sunscreen protects the skin from harmful UV rays, which are responsible for premature aging, sunburns, and an increased risk of skin cancer. Consistent use of SPF helps prevent sunburn, which is a sign of immediate damage to the skin.”
Which is the best moisturiser with SPF for my skin type?
As is the case with any skincare products (especially moisturisers), you'd do well by considering your skin type and its needs before settling on a moisturiser with SPF. For example, if you have oily or acne-prone skin, you may want to consider a non-comedogenic and lightweight formula that hydrates yet doesn't feel greasy or clog your pores. But if your skin – like mine – is more on the dry side, make sure to opt for a rich formula that will deliver long-lasting moisture. And if you're team combination, consider a healthy balance of both.
What is the best moisturiser with SPF for sensitive skin?
If your sensitive skin often leaves you dealing with redness, itching, and/or inflammation, you'll definitely want to avoid formulas that contain any harsh chemicals or fragrances — and instead seek out products filled with nourishing and repairing ingredients that will help restore your skin's all-important moisture barrier.
La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+] SPF 30 is one of our top picks for sensitive skin that's prone to blemishes, breakouts, and hyperpigmentation — whereas the Avène Antirougeurs Day Emulsion SPF30 Moisturiser is great for soothing redness and hyperpigmentation. Alongside both of these brands, Bioderma and Eucerin also have a lot of great products that specifically cater to sensitive skin.
